🥟 Healthy Momo Recipe


Momos are a delicious and popular snack, but this healthy version is made with whole wheat flour and filled with nutritious vegetables, making it both tasty and good for you.


⭐ Ingredients

For Dough:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (optional, for softness)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Water (as needed to knead)

For Filling:

  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage

  • ½ cup grated carrot

  • ½ cup finely chopped capsicum

  • ½ cup finely chopped onion

  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

  • 1 teaspoon garlic, finely chopped

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder

  • ½ teaspoon soy sauce (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 teaspoon oil (for sautéing)

🥣 Method

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. Mix whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt.

  2. Add water gradually and knead into a soft dough.

  3. Cover and let it rest for 20–25 minutes.

2. Prepare the Filling

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add ginger and garlic, sauté for a minute.

  2. Add onions, cook until slightly soft.

  3. Add cabbage, carrot, and capsicum. Stir-fry on medium heat for 2–3 minutes.

  4. Add soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

  5. Let the filling cool.

3. Shape the Momos

  1. Divide dough into small balls and roll into thin circles.

  2. Place 1 spoonful of filling in the center.

  3. Fold and seal the edges in pleated or half-moon shape.

4. Cook the Momos

  • Steaming: Steam momos in a steamer for 8–10 minutes until shiny and cooked.

  • Optional: Brush with little oil before steaming for extra softness.

🍴 Serving Suggestion

Serve hot with spicy tomato chutney or mint-coriander dip for a healthy, tasty treat.
